Celebrating VE Day

For children at Harriers, this year’s VE Day anniversary is not just a date to commemorate. It also provided an opportunity to draw parallels with the country’s coronavirus battle and take inspiration from the way in which the country coped during World War II.

The children of key workers who are attending school celebrated this special day with a host of activities including a virtual assembly explaining the importance of VE Day and WWII, paper Spitfires, posters, bunting and word searches.

The previous day, Year 6 students had the opportunity to meet via video conferencing to discuss the posters they have made and the importance of remembering this day.

They also made the papers alongside Dashwood Banbury Academy children with some of the work they have completed at school for VE Day: Banbury Guardian
