Homework

Phonics, Maths or a talk-based homework is sent home weekly in order for children to practice what they have learnt that week and share their learning with their family members. Children are also learning to read trickier words which may not follow an obvious spelling pattern. These will also be sent home weekly for children to practice reading on sight.

We also set a termly Pre-Learning Topic Homework. This homework is sent home the last week of each term and is a fun and exciting practical project-based task for children to bring into school at the start of the new term to share their prior knowledge.

Trips and WOW Days

We like to make sure our topics go with a bang in Early Years. Therefore we make sure that we always have special days linked to our topics full of exciting activities to immerse our children into their new learning.

We plan our trips and visits around the learning taking place in the classroom and use the local community as much as possible when doing this. We have enjoyed a visit from Zoolab, a local company who bring exotic creatures into school, we liked touching all the creepy crawlies!

We have been on trips to Banbury Fire Station when we were learning all about people who help us and have visited a local farm during springtime to visit newborn animals and observe new life.
