The Artsmark Award
We, at Harriers Academy Banbury, are proud to announce our commitment to the Artsmark award and the shared appreciation for all creative arts that it stands for!
What is The Artsmark Award?
Artsmark is the only creative quality standard for schools and education settings, accredited by Arts Council England. Its flexible framework is designed to help you embed arts, culture and creativity across your whole curriculum, celebrating your commitment to cultural education.
At Harriers, our curriculum has been designed so that children have access to a broad range of experiences and
culturally diverse opportunities, broadening their creativity and inspiring children to reach their goals and
aspirations. We are committed to providing pupils with a rich and varied exposure to the Arts within school hours, and in after school clubs, with reserved places for Pupil Premium pupils in these.
How The artsmark helps us at harriers
At Harriers, the Arts are at the heart of our enriched curriculum. We currently provide opportunities for children to
develop socially, emotionally and culturally in their learning and believe these contribute positively to children’s
mental health. The Arts give an opportunity for all children to shine and develop their creativity.
Following this framework, we have been able to identify areas for improvement and plan a number of changes to further enrich our curriculum. Creative writing and the performative arts, for instance, are just two of the areas which we hope will benefit from further investment, encouraging our students to explore emotions and imaginations, and help them develop their voices.
